Since October 28, RLUSD can be traded and held on Coinbase Prime, Coinbase Exchange and the Coinbase retail app, with 1:1 conversion from dollars and other supported dollar stablecoins. It will later reach Coinbase Global Exchange customers, including its use as collateral. Deposits and withdrawals work on XRPL, Base and Ethereum, and Ripple will provide liquidity on Base.
Ripple and Coinbase partner to expand access to Ripple USD
Ripple’s stablecoin (RLUSD) launches on Coinbase platforms, with support for the XRP Ledger (XRPL), Base and Ethereum.
NEW YORK, October 28, 2026 – Ripple and Coinbase, two of the leading providers of blockchain solutions in traditional and digital finance, today announced a partnership to bring Ripple USD (RLUSD) to Coinbase, significantly expanding market access and utility for the enterprise-grade stablecoin in the U.S.
Starting today, retail and institutional customers can trade and manage RLUSD through Coinbase Prime, Coinbase Exchange and the Coinbase Retail app, with 1:1 conversion from U.S. dollars and other supported USD-denominated stablecoins to RLUSD. It will soon be available to Coinbase Global Exchange customers, including the ability to use RLUSD as collateral.
“Institutional interest in high-quality, compliant stablecoins is clear. The challenge is making them easily available through the platforms institutions already trust and use,” said Jack McDonald, Senior Vice President of Stablecoins at Ripple . “Our partnership with Coinbase directly answers that demand. It allows RLUSD to reach the largest institutional customer base in the U.S. crypto market, spanning execution, settlement and custody, all in one place.”
“Institutions are looking for access to a full range of payment options, alongside the execution, settlement and custody they already trust. Adding RLUSD to Coinbase is another step toward the everything exchange: a single place where customers choose the assets that best fit their strategy, on infrastructure designed to ensure security and regulatory compliance,” said Brett Tejpaul, Co-CEO of Coinbase Institutional.
Expanding access to RLUSD across markets
Support for deposits and withdrawals on XRPL, Base and Ethereum gives users greater flexibility to move RLUSD across different blockchain ecosystems. On Base, Ripple will provide liquidity to drive RLUSD’s growth.
Since its launch in December 2024, RLUSD has surpassed $2.4 billion in market capitalization, driven by growing adoption across exchanges, payments, institutional markets and onchain finance. Together, these integrations extend RLUSD to spot trading, institutional prime brokerage, derivatives and decentralized finance (DeFi), broadening its distribution and utility.
RLUSD is a regulated, enterprise-grade stablecoin, redeemable for U.S. dollars and backed by reserves that include U.S. dollar deposits, short-term U.S. Treasury bills and other cash equivalents. RLUSD is designed for regulated finance, with transparency, trust and institutional utility as its core pillars.
Jack McDonald, Senior Vice President of Stablecoins at Ripple, will join Brett Tejpaul, Co-CEO of Coinbase Institutional, on stage at Ripple Swell in New York City today, October 28 at 4:45 p.m. (ET) to discuss the next phase of institutional stablecoin adoption.
