Atómico 3 S.A., a leading company in the mining industry, has announced that it will move forward with the world’s first lithium tokenization.
Key points
- The CEO and founder of Atómico 3, Pablo Rutigliano, announced the tokenization of lithium in the province of San Juan, Argentina. This is the first tokenized lithium asset in the world.
- A change of identity: The province, historically known for metal mining, is now venturing into lithium.
- The lithium mining project, lithium being considered a commodity, creates traceability and visibility for Argentina worldwide.
- Tokenization provides transparency and fosters genuine job creation.
- Tokenization adapts to the region and generates genuine mining competitiveness.
- Mining tokenization far surpasses the RIGI model, strengthening legal certainty for local and global investors.
- Tokenization is revolutionary because it enables the transformation of raw materials, generating social and sustainable development.
Atómico 3 has moved forward with signing the first agreements with owners of mining assets in the province of San Juan.
The aim of these contracts is the tokenization of mining assets for the exploration and exploitation of lithium in the Salares de Mogna.
The initial contract sets a five-year term and covers an area of 50,000 hectares. This progress marks the beginning of a process that could redefine the mining identity of the province of San Juan and of all of Argentina.
What is the Salar de Mogna?
Located in the Department of Angaco, 100 km from the provincial capital, the Salar de Mogna project represents a strategic challenge for lithium mining in Argentina. In its first stage, the initiative contemplates the exploration of 10,000 hectares, with geological studies underway.
The area is accessed via Provincial Route No. 63 and consolidated roads, although only 10% of these roads are paved. The zone lies in an arid environment with a dry continental climate, with average temperatures of 25.8 °C in January and 9.2 °C in July. The low annual rainfall, ranging from 68 mm to 200 mm in mountainous areas, plays a key role in managing water resources for aquifer recharge in the Angaco intermontane basin.
The tokenization of lithium in San Juan not only marks a milestone in the Argentine mining industry, but also places the country at the forefront of innovation in the exploitation of strategic resources. With this project, Atómico 3 opens the door to new economic and technological opportunities, transforming the traditional model of mining investment.
As exploration and exploitation advance in the Salares de Mogna, Argentina will consolidate itself as a key player in lithium production, driving sustainable development and the transition toward an economy based on clean energy.
“If we want Argentina to truly position itself globally in mining, what matters is developing the tokenization of mining assets, since that will enable transparency, visibility and scalability for the entire country,” said Pablo Rutigliano.
