Water.org uses Ripple Payments for international transfers and RLUSD to disburse microloans. It has moved more than $3.2M across four markets, and in Mexico and Brazil it has gone from settling in 2-3 days to settling on the same day, with fees up to 66% lower. It has reached more than one million people in Latin America. Ripple commits $6M over three years and provides $1.25M in RLUSD for Indonesia, the Philippines and Uganda.

Ripple and Water.org reach one million people and deepen their partnership to drive global access to clean water.

The expanded collaboration brings together Ripple Payments, Ripple USD (RLUSD) and digital asset custody to move and manage capital more efficiently in emerging markets.

NEW YORK, October 28, 2026 – Ripple, the leading provider of blockchain solutions for traditional and digital finance, today announced the expansion of its partnership with Water.org, the nonprofit organization co-founded by Gary White and Matt Damon that has helped more than 95 million people access clean water and sanitation around the world. After more than a year of collaboration, Water.org is expanding its use of Ripple’s payments, stablecoin and custody infrastructure to manage and transfer capital more efficiently across its global operations.

This partnership leverages Ripple’s payments, stablecoin and digital asset infrastructure to help Water.org streamline the transfer of funds, reduce costs and expand access to financing for water and sanitation, while bringing global humanitarian aid where it is needed most. Ripple Payments enables faster and cheaper cross-border flows to Water.org’s network of local partner financial institutions; Ripple USD (RLUSD), Ripple’s stablecoin backed by US dollars, provides a digital settlement layer for more efficient WaterCredit disbursements; and Water.org will now use Ripple’s Wallet-as-a-Service technology to securely manage digital assets, simplifying operations as these programs expand into new markets.

Ripple’s financing and payments infrastructure has helped Water.org provide access to clean water and sanitation to more than one million people in Latin America. Thanks to Ripple Payments, Water.org has seen significant operational improvements: more than $3.2 million has been transferred across four markets, settlement times have been reduced from two or three days to a single day in Mexico and Brazil, and payment processing is now available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, instead of being subject to a single daily banking window. Transaction fees have also been reduced by up to 66%, meaning a greater share of every dollar reaches borrowers instead of being absorbed by fees.

To sustain and accelerate this work, Ripple has committed $6 million to Water.org over three years to support solutions such as WaterCredit, which partners with local financial institutions to provide affordable loans to families who want to install taps, toilets and clean water connections in their homes. Water.org also received a $1.25 million grant in RLUSD through the Stablecoin Impact Fund to expand stablecoin-enabled WaterCredit disbursements to Indonesia, the Philippines and Uganda.

“Ending the water crisis is, at its core, a financing problem. The problem is not a lack of money, but how that money flows. Families living in poverty already pay for water every day. When they have access to affordable financing, that spending becomes a tap or a toilet that lasts. This only works when capital can reach our local partners quickly and efficiently, wherever they are. Ripple has shown how this works. In Latin America, we have seen that when money moves the way it should, every dollar goes further and reaches more people. Together, we are building a future where everyone has access to clean water and sanitation,” said Gary White, co-founder and CEO of Water.org .

“The promise of crypto and blockchain technology has always been to make the flow of money faster, more efficient and more global. With Water.org, we are seeing this become reality. Water.org’s work is essential to expanding access to clean water and sanitation around the world, and we are proud to help amplify that impact by making it easier and cheaper to send money where it is needed most,” said Brad Garlinghouse, CEO of Ripple.

In addition to its direct support for Water.org, Ripple also invests capital through the WaterEquity Everspring Fund, a permanent impact vehicle that uses philanthropic capital to drive commercial investment in water and sanitation loans in emerging markets. As loans are repaid, the capital is reinvested in new loans, allowing every dollar to keep supporting families and communities again and again.

Ripple is also joining Get Blue, a movement launched by Water.org , as its exclusive digital asset and financial technology (FinTech) partner. Inspired by the (RED) campaign, Get Blue brings together brands, creators, artists and consumers around a common mission: bringing clean water to millions of families around the world. Founding partners include Gap, Amazon, Starbucks and Ecolab. As the exclusive FinTech partner, Ripple provides the payments and stablecoin infrastructure that enables Water.org to transfer money faster and more affordably to the local financial institutions that issue WaterCredit loans. Ripple’s first year of funding for Get Blue has helped Water.org reach 400,000 people, and its three-year commitment is expected to benefit 1.2 million people. Get Blue is part of Water.org’s goal of providing access to clean water or sanitation to 200 million people by 2030.

Water.org co-founders Gary White and Matt Damon join Ripple at Swell 2026 for a fireside chat with Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse, where they discuss how innovative financial solutions can help bring clean water and sanitation to millions of families around the world, and the role of faster, more affordable payments infrastructure in scaling Water.org’s proven microloan model.
