Solana Mobile unveiled the Solana Mobile Stack for hardware manufacturers at MWC 2026 after reaching 200,000 units sold
Solana Mobile will bring the Solana Mobile Stack (SMS) to Android hardware manufacturers.
The Solana Mobile Stack is a “turnkey” integration that connects Android
devices to the $1.5 trillion annual economy running on Solana. Its
goal is to offer original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) hardware-level
differentiation in a commoditized market, as well as a path to generate
recurring revenue beyond the initial device sale. It is modular and
optional, meaning it is designed not to affect payment certifications,
Google Mobile Services or security approvals on Android
devices.
Solana Mobile first developed this technology for its flagship phones. After
shipping more than 200,000 devices across the Saga and Seeker models —and watching
users generate more than $5 billion in on-chain transaction
volume—, the stack is ready for partners who want to offer this same capability
at scale.
What is Solana Mobile?
Solana Mobile Inc. launched the Saga in 2023 and the Seeker in 2025, establishing the first
production-validated mobile platform for hardware-secured digital asset
management. With more than 200,000 devices in the market and proven
transaction volume of more than $5 billion, the company is now
focused on scaling the platform through partnerships with original
equipment manufacturers (OEMs) worldwide.
Why does this matter now?
Globally, 580 million people own digital assets. They save in
stablecoins, send remittances, trade and pay, generating more than $1 trillion in
monthly transaction volume. Mobile fintech is the main access
point, especially in emerging markets where in 2024 alone
$1.68 trillion in mobile money transactions were processed, according to the GSMA.
Alongside this activity, a new kind of fintech is emerging. Stablecoin transaction volume
on blockchains reached $27.6 trillion in 2024,
surpassing the combined volumes of Visa and Mastercard. Unlike the previous
wave —where financial services lived in apps controlled by a few
companies—, digital assets can be held directly on the device
through self-custody. The same secure element technology
that enables contactless payment (tap-to-pay) can now secure a user’s
financial assets. This is an advantage that software-only wallets
cannot replicate, and it uniquely positions manufacturers (OEMs) to
let customers be their own banks and to participate, for the first time, in the
economics of their users’ financial lives.
Today, third-party apps and exchanges capture nearly all of that value. The
Solana Mobile Stack aims to change that.
What does the Solana Mobile Stack include?
The SMS is a set of modular components, already production-validated on the
MediaTek Dimensity chipsets of the Seeker, Solana Mobile’s flagship device.
Together, they will turn mobile devices into a complete financial platform,
allowing users to:
- Custody assets: Seed Vault is designed to integrate with the existing TEE
(Trusted Execution Environment) and secure element, allowing
users to store stablecoins and digital assets simply and
securely in hardware. No custodians and no seed phrase complexity;
just biometrically authenticated transactions that feel like a
contactless payment. - Move assets: Seeker Wallet is a consumer experience that brings
device-level custody to life. It is designed to let users receive, send,
buy and sell digital assets, all protected by the Seed Vault. - Instant transfers: Users can send money instantly,
peer-to-peer or across borders, at near-zero cost.
Institutions such as Visa, Stripe, Western Union, PayPal and thousands of
independent developers are already building on Solana, the
financial infrastructure users would connect to out of the box. - Earn yield: Within Seeker Wallet, digital asset holdings
can earn interest with a single tap. Users can
stake, trade and access curated apps through the Solana
dApp Store. Manufacturers that integrate the stack can potentially
benefit from every transaction through revenue sharing. - Shared growth: The SKR token seeks to align the interests of manufacturers,
developers and users around the shared growth of the platform.
More than 75,000 users claimed SKR at launch, with 46%
staked, a retention mechanism built into the stack to keep
users engaged long after taking the phone out of the box.
Proven at scale: 200,000 devices, $5B+ in volume
The SMS is production-validated with more than 6 months of real-world Seeker data:
- Active users and a solid economy: More than 85,000 weekly active
wallets and more than $5 billion in on-chain volume. - Growing ecosystem: More than 500 published apps and thousands of
active developers. - Global reach: Shipped to 50 countries, with sales led by the U.S.,
Hong Kong, Japan and South Korea.
What this unlocks for manufacturers (OEMs)
The business case is straightforward. Hardware manufacturers are increasingly turning to
platform strategies to generate recurring revenue. The SMS offers:
- Phone sales and recurring revenue: Transaction fees,
staking fees and ecosystem participation that grow as
the installed base scales. - Real differentiation: A device with native hardware-secured financial
capabilities is categorically different from one that only runs
apps. - A ready-made ecosystem: Manufacturers don’t need to build a platform
from scratch. The SMS includes more than 500 apps and access to between 50 and 150 million
monthly active addresses on the Solana network.
Integration details
MediaTek has opened its development platform to Solana Mobile, ensuring the
SMS is production-ready on MediaTek Dimensity chipsets. The SMS is also
compatible with Qualcomm chipsets and supports GlobalPlatform-compliant
TEEs, including a partnership with Trustonic to integrate its
Kinibi TEE architecture.
The integration is modular and optional: original equipment manufacturers
(OEMs) should be able to move from evaluation to deployment without having to
rebuild their technology architecture (stack) or put existing certifications
at risk.
This architecture is modular; it is designed to let OEMs configure the
wallet experience, select the available apps and customize
the onboarding process by market, working
closely with the Solana Mobile team to accelerate time to launch.
The product focus varies by region:
- Emerging markets (India, Brazil and Mexico): Emphasis on stablecoins and
yield. - Developed Asia: Focus on secure self-custody and portfolio
optimization. - Europe: Priority on stablecoin yield and banking connectivity.
The SMS (Solana Mobile Stack) is designed to adapt to all of them.
